Maulisho wasn't sure where Kasim had gone--probably to meet with someone else. But not knowing how long her mate would be before returning, she's already asleep, back inside the birthing den. It wasn't long after falling asleep before she began to dream, not surprisingly, about her mate, and about the wonderful time together that they've planned for this week. And before long, the cougaress has a small smile on her muzzle, occasionally rolling over in her sleep with a pleased murr.
They must all pay! Every last one of them who had conspired against him! They must pay dearly! After spending a few days off the territory, territory that, as a bitter though to Chesmu at this moment, used to be his, Chesmu felt this urge pulling to him. The urge to make them suffer. He knew, the moment they said he was to leave, that they were conspiring against him! So, he decides that he must punish them... as the former Chieftain enters what used to be his territory, his thoughts are entirely on what he could do. Break them, make them suffer, bleed, cry... fear... Chesmu wants them all to feel it.
The two of them are going to have a second litter. More siblings for Kein and Pelutho. New cubs to raise. More mouths to feed, yes, but more children to be proud of as they grow up and deal with their own challenges. Maulisho had fallen asleep with memories of what Kein, Pelutho, and Ruut'h have gone through. She rolls over again, dreaming of being with her mate and of the wonderful future they will have together, raising a second litter of cubs and helping them to develop into strong cougars that she and Kasim will be equally proud of.
Chesmu catches a certain scent. This intoxicating scent is familiar, one that Chesmu had experienced once before long ago, though it had sickened him then. It is that of Maulisho in heat. He follows it until he comes upon the birthing cavern, which, upon filling his nose with the scent once more, he enters, seeking the source. Chesmu looks down and sees Maulisho enjoying a lucid and pleasurable dream. His eye twitches. Maulisho: The biggest traitor of all.
And it's definitely quite the pleasurable dream. Maulisho's smile only widens, though her eyes remain closed. A slight purr can be heard, followed by a somewhat louder "Mmmmmm". The cougaress rolls over onto her back, wriggling a little, and then mumbles something incomprehensible. Talking to Kasim, apparently, in her dream.
Chesmu bares his teeth in almost pure rage. Traitor! Traitor! He walks closer to Maulisho, still with clenched teeth. Hearing Kasim's name only makes Chesmu all the more enraged. Did he not love Maulisho for a long time? Chesmu looks down on the cougaress, obviously in heat, and his thoughts start spiraling in a tornado. Maulisho could have been speaking his name in ecstasy... SHOULD have been speaking his name. Not that bastard of a cougar Kasim. Chesmu looks the female over. Traitor! Traitor! Perhaps a fitting punishment for this damnable... *harlot*... is to do to her what he should have done long ago.
Maulisho mumbles something again, rolling her head over to the side, followed a few seconds later by her whole body also rolling over to the side. She's still for a moment before slowly shifting around. More mumbling. Other than her purring, the one thing that doesn't change is the smile that's still on her muzzle. Whatever she's dreaming, it apparently is /quite/ enjoyable.
Chesmu growls deeply and lowers himself onto Maulisho's body, descending on her like some ravenous hunter cornering and slaying his prey. They both deserve no less, a pleasant reward for Chesmu and a fitting punishment for Maulisho. With a passion that only one with such uncontrolled rage as the former Chieftain could feel, Chesmu begins mercilessly violating his old friend.
And with the sudden and terrible flood of feelings, Maulisho goes from enjoying a wonderful dream to suffering a horrific nightmare. One that's entirely real. It's not Kasim, and it's not a dream. It's Chesmu, gone mad. And this time he's succeeding where he had failed long ago. With a cry of anguish and desperation, Maulisho tries hard to throw him off of her, or roll away, or /anything/. Her mind goes numb in panic.
Chesmu snarls and reaches out two clawed paws and grips Maulisho tightly and pulls her closer to him. Traitor! Harlot! She should have been his mate, not Kasim's, she should have seen that long ago. After a moment, Chesmu viciously bites down onto her shoulder. He's not saying anything. He believes that the time has passed for words and that only actions can make things right. His eye continues to twitch with madness.
If she had been awake, able to think clearly, and even given a small amount of time to prepare herself, Maulisho could most likely have defended herself with some success. But she is easily overpowered here, and her mind, going from a deep sleep to a complete panic, is unable to formulate any kind of coherent plan of defense other than just struggling to get free in order to run for her life. Chesmu is easily able to hold her down, and when his fangs bite down into her shoulder, she lets out an agonized scream as pain stabs through her.
Chesmu finally graces Maulisho with his words. As his eye twitches, the former Chieftain says, "You betrayed me." Chesmu growls into Maulisho's ear, still gripping her tightly, feeling his claws penetrate fur, skin and flesh. "Some friend you have proven to be. You've betrayed me, Maulisho... first to Kasim... then your son. You sought to take away my happiness." Chesmu rakes his claws down Maulisho's body. "And now with my mother... to kill me." Chesmu whispers quietly into Maulisho's ear then: "I should have been yours, and you..." Chesmu's eye twitches, and he chuckles, a chuckle tinged with pure madness and rage. "...you should have been mine."
Maulisho stares at the den wall, listening to the terrifying words of Chesmu in her ear. Her former friend. Her former Chieftain. She's horrified beyond comprehension at what he's become, let alone what he's actually /doing/ to her. Her maw remains open in a wordless snarl of agony, her ears slicked completely flat against her skull. Her flesh separates in slashed ribbons down her flanks, blood spilling out and soaking her fur.
Chesmu sniffs Maulisho's fur and her blood. "Just lovely." Chesmu says. "You smell as good as the day I met you, so long ago. I suppose we might be different cougars now." Chesmu finishes his fervent violation of who had been his friend by raking her fur even harder than last time before climbing off of Maulisho and fixing her with his gaze, grinning. "Painful isn't it...? like the pain you caused me. And you're not even going to say a word to me?"
Maulisho lets out another agonized yowl, her eyes squeezing shut and her body trembling. Blood continues to make a nasty crimson stain in her fur as it flows from her wounds, matting her fur and pooling on the ground beneath her. The realization of what Chesmu has done to her slowly sinks in, causing her to cry softly and bury her face in her forepaws. Oh Kasim... I'm so sorry! It's an overwhelming and familiar shame that brings her back to the time when she was forced to submit to Azriel in order to keep her friend Larkspur from being killed.
Chesmu growls and swipes a strong clawed paw at Maulisho's head. "LOOK AT ME!" Chesmu says. "All you have to say for your betrayal, for everything you've denied me and stolen from me, and all you can do is cry like some lost cub?!" Chesmu is tapping into a deep well of rage and hatred... for Maulisho. "Were you planning on betraying him, too? Maybe you were discussing that with my mother as well? Kill off the best friend you ever had, and, what the hell, let's throw in the mate you'd love to betray like you betrayed your friend!" With that, Chesmu throws another clawed paw again at her head.
Maulisho doesn't /want/ to look at Chesmu, and it's probably a good thing, as his claws only rake across the back of her head, slicing her ear open, rather than across her eyes or sensitive nose. More blood begins to seep down her body, this time across her cheekfur and shoulderfur. She's crying much harder now, at the implication that somehow she's betraying Kasim. She would never do any such thing. Ever. She hasn't talked with Chesmu's mother... she's never even met her before! Surely someone as evil as the cougaress Chesmu described, Maulisho would have recognized and stayed far away from. But no... now she's in here, alone with an enraged Chesmu, shamelessly violated, and now bleeding from multiple and excruciatingly painful injuries.
"How pathetic. Barely even a cougar!" Chesmu says, his madness modifying his tone a bit. His eye twitches. "How... could you? How... *dare* you?" Chesmu butts his head into Maulisho as hard as he can, almost throwing his body into her from where he was next to her. "Never once have I meant anything to you. Just someone you could use and throw away. Now I'm going to do something, something I should have done seasons ago when you fled the tribe. I'm going to do the same thing you did to me from the moment you came back!" Chesmu swings a clawed paw as hard as he can at Maulisho. "Dispose of you."
Maulisho is slammed into, with the force of Chesmu's body knocking the cougaress over onto her back. Blood splatters onto the male, though the majority is still trickling all through her own fur. Her sides heave for breath, as she choke-coughs as her paws swing weakly at Chesmu, trying to keep him away. It's not very effective, and his own strike at her sends claws ripping through her face and neck, very nearly hitting one of her tear-filled eyes, and causing some horrendous damage to her neck. There's a lot more blood now; apparently his claws slashed through a major artery.
Chesmu yells at Maulisho from an inch from her face. "SAY SOMETHING!" Chesmu hollers. "Not even going to grace me with a *word?!*" Chesmu plants two paws on Maulisho's chest and growls. He pokes his claws into Maulisho's body. "If you're not going to speak, then..." Chesmu, with a twitch of his eye, starts slowly dragging his claws down Maulisho's body. "TALK TO ME!"
"Please.. stop!" It's a feeble plea for mercy, as Maulisho is barely able to formulate words with all the pain she's in. There's a rasping to her voice that certainly can't be good. "Please..." More lacerations down her body, this time leaving trails of red through her bellyfur. The pain seems to be dulling, a sign that she's possibly beginning to go into shock.
Chesmu hisses slightly and quietly, again into Maulisho's ears. "Again... that's not good enough." Chesmu says, his eye twitches. "Perhaps I am simply mad, or perhaps you are quite simply..." Chesmu rakes his claws all the way down Maulisho's body again. "...not... good... enough."
Maulisho has lost a lot of blood by this point, and her vision starts to waver even as her body goes numb. It's a detached realization that Chesmu's claws are still slicing deep into her, severing flesh and spilling even more of her blood. She groans in response, ending in a choking cough as she begins to go limp. There isn't anymore resisting, and there isn't anymore crying out in pain.
Chesmu whispers to Maulisho again, driven by madness and malice, drawing from his delusional world wherein this beautiful, innocent cougaress betrayed him. "Say something." Chesmu says. "Not pleading for life... say something, Maulisho, womething you want to say that you want me to hear." Chesmu stops slicing up Maulisho's body, keeping his claws inside of her, however. "Say it!"
This twisted, sadistic male has ambushed her, violated her, and mutilated her, and yet he still is insisting that she say something? She almost doesn't hear him, as her eyes are seeing another male cougar, and it's not Chesmu. Her mate seems to look at her, smiling, giving reassurance that everything is going to be okay. And then disappears, being replaced by two young males. Her sons. One is joined by a female, and they give each other a nuzzle before disappearing. A second female walks past her vision, though quite a bit younger. Maulisho can almost hear her daughter's voice calling out a greeting to her mother. And then there's only one cougar in front of her again, and she manages a weak smile. "I.. love.. y-you..."
Chesmu blinks at Maulisho. He hears those words, looking into the face of the cougaress he is about done killing. He doesn't know what to think, but his madness keeps him from rectifying his mistake, from begging Maulisho's forgiveness and running far away. "You love me, Maulisho?"
"... Kasim," the cougaress finishes, slumping to the side a little. Maulisho still has that faint smile on her muzzle, her eyes looking out toward the cave entrance. Except it's not an entrance, because she's not in a cave. She's resting peacefully in a grassy area, watching her sister run around with far too much energy. She's resting by a waterfall, laughing with her dear wolf friend. She's resting in the desert, teaching her oldest son about the importance of forgiveness. She's resting in the small birthing den back in Amaranth with her mate, talking about the joys of a family.
Chesmu looks down at Maulisho. He bares his teeth, enraged. "*No!*" Chesmu says. "No! NO! You love *me!* Say it, Maulisho! Say you love me! Say something but say it to me!" Chesmu's eye starts fluttering now, as if the twitch has a mind of its own. He squeezes his claws in deepd, slowly moving them back up. "Maulisho!"
There is a considerable amount of blood pooled underneath of the cougaress, as well as a lot throughout her fur, drying and matting it into a mess. Maulisho's eyes seem to focus again, then blur, and finally close, as she goes completely limp. There's a soft gasp for breath, and then her sides go still. Once called a 'twitchy little thing' by Ahiga, Maulisho is finally at complete rest.
Chesmu growls, though the tiniest remnant of his true self screams out in anguish, the madness remains again to cause trouble. "No!" Chesmu throws a paw at her face. "Wake up! WAKE UP! I'm not through with you! Not until you tell me you love me!" Chesmu stares down at the body of one he used to care so deeply for. One who, when he was an adolescent, she showed the most friendliness to. One who was her best friend and Chesmu's hope of happiness when he was alone. Gone. All gone. And, just as brutally and mercilessly as Chesmu bloodied and murdered his friend, what is left of the real Chesmu, the Chesmu who would die for his family, who loved Maulisho and hoped the best for her, dies with her. What remains is a mad husk, a cougar not who he once was, an absolute nothing but sheer lunacy and no drive but to cause more pain and sadness. Chesmu steps back from Maulisho's body. "And so you rest. Not proudly, but ruined." This non-Chesmu turns without a single tear shed and walks out of the cavern. Enough killing for one day, time to rest.
The End.
