Anatomy of a Microsoft Shill Post

Take a look at this shot I got from a lively discussion I had with a Microsoft shill on the Ubuntu forums:

Note: I was not the one who used "Micro$oft" and set the shill off, but I sure enjoyed egging this idiot on.

Lets go over this. It is only a few points. But it is rather telling.

1. The Avatar - Degrading teh Ubuntu logo by putting that eyesore of a Windows Vista logo in the middle. That is always a sure sign of trouble on a Linux forum. You know this bastard is looking for an opportunity to go after anti-Microsoft FOSSies. Probably doesn't use Linux nearly as much as he does Windows.

2. The Content - Microsoft isn't actually a word but a name. There's a difference. But I could believe this guy is a Grammar Nazi... if it werent for the avatar and signature basically shrieking "I'm a damn MS shill!" Note also the holier-than-thou attitude towards the one who said "Micro$oft." Now, NOBODY likes a Grammar Nazi. Annoying as hell. But it is pretty clear this person was just polishing Microsoft's image really.

3. The Signature - Something about Vista and Ibex getting along. Here's a very typical shill trait: Ignoring history and evidence that something will not happen because Microsoft is what it is and not what the shill wants them to be. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer called Linux a "cancer" and called the GPL "viral" and that they will "rise to this threat. (Linux.)" Don't get me started on the Halloween Documents wherein they declare Linux is a long-term to Linux that must be destroyed. You want Windows and Linux to get along, look to Microsoft who is openly declaring war on Linux every chance they get. Of course a Microsoft shill will ignore this. I like to call it a "reality distortion field." Usually when caught in an RDF, a shill will act like Microsoft is the innocent one in all this and the Linux community is the aggressor.

So yes, shills are everywhere, shamelessly trying to make Microsoft look good and Linux look bad.
